Healing Emotional Pain in the Body

Healing Emotional Pain in the Body

“Emotional pain cannot kill you, but running from it can. Allow. Embrace. Let yourself
feel. Let yourself heal. ” ~Veronica Tugaleva

Physical trauma is carried within our bodies, along with emotional pain that is left
unchecked. Healing can be done through meditation, yoga, personal discussion, or
professional counseling. It takes great courage to really sit with our feelings, allowing
ourselves to surrender to their powerful energies. All too often we set our feelings
aside, thinking we will deal with them later. If we don’t deal with them, we end up
storing them in our minds and bodies. If left unchecked then we experience anxiety and
other serious physical health issues and even disease. Denying what our bodies want
to feel can lead to trouble now or down the line, which is why being with our feelings, no
matter how scary, is really the best thing we can do for ourselves.

Tragedy changes our brain and our everyday functioning. Life-altering events create a
disconnect with everyone and everything. States of hyper-vigilance and numbness can
cycle and triggers can set off reactivity. Traumas can make you feel detached, irritable,
anxious, and highly reactive. It re-wires the brain in an attempt to protect you but it can
actually harm you more. Our sense of well-being and true purpose are affected,
however, the good news is you have neuro-plasticity, which means your brain can
recover and be restored. The mind-body link is a sacred thing.

Steps to Create Change:

1) Become aware of pain and patterns within the body.
2) Take ownership of your own actions, attitudes and beliefs.
3) Purposely observe yourself to see unhealthy choices and question them.
4) Evaluate current environments, both at work and home.
6) Practice integrating healthy living experiences.
7) Be patient.

Our bodies remember every one of our life experiences. Our bodies remember these
things because each of us has an energy body interconnected with our physical bodies.
Sometimes when trauma or deep feelings affect us, we experience and assimilate those
feelings, and then discharge and release the energy. However, often we don’t fully
accept or deal with our inner responses at the time and we suppress the flow of energy,
bury the memory and the feelings. But the vibration of that trauma then becomes
embedded into our bodies and woven into our muscles, joints, and organs.

Areas of Emotional Pain & Possible Causes:

1) Headache/migraine: stress of the day, stress of life rests here.
2) Neck pain: may have trouble forgiving.
3) Shoulder pain: carrying heavy emotional burden, try proactive problem solving,
delegate responsibilities.

4) Upper back pain: not enough emotional support, feelings of being unloved or
unwanted.
5) Elbow pain: resistance to changes in life.
6) Hand pain: not reaching out to others in the ways you should.
7) Hip pain: too scared of moving, resistant to change and moving on, too cautious when
making decisions.
8) Knee pain: ego is too big, try being more humble.

Trauma doesn’t have to define you. Transformation is energetic and must begin
internally. With reframing and proper processing, you can change your vibration and
heal your dysfunctions. You can change the course of your life by focusing on the
things that aid your healing. In doing so, the thoughts and reactivity that harm you will
diminish over time.

The universe takes care of us no matter what happens in life. This realization can really
only come from turning our fear over to the universe and being able to rely on its power
to nurture us. By placing your trust in the universe today, you will recognize that there is
nothing you don’t already have.
