3 Daily Practices For a Positive Life
It’s so easy to fall into to the trap of rushing into our day. After all, we didn’t get everything done we wanted to yesterday so we’d better get busy asap, right? STOP THE MADNESS! In this go, go, crazy busy world we live in, where there never seems to be enough hours in the day to get it all done, it’s more important than EVER to slow down and be in the moment.
Here are 3 easy tips to set your day for positive vibes …
1. Feel Gratitude: As you’re first waking, before you even roll over to consider the jump out of bed, take a few moments while laying still to focus on and feel a sense of gratitude. It can be for something as simple as the comfort of a bed and great pillow(which many don’t have the luxury of) or the sun peaking through the window. When you start your day with even a moment or two of gratitude, it shifts everything!
2. Breathe Deeply: Then, give yourself a full body stretch and sit up; but, before your first toe even hits the floor, pause and take 5 deep breaths. In complete stillness, as uncomfortable as that can be for us Type A’s out there, slowly count to 5 with each inhale and exhale. This quick practice will help you feel calm and centered before the busyness of the day bombards you with is expectations and “to dos “.
3. Meet the Mirror: Next, make your way to the bathroom and, as you come across the first mirror you see, stop, look into your own eyes and say “Good Morning, Gorgeous. Have I told you yet today that I love you? It’s going to be an amazing day! ” (Or something along those lines.) Yes, seriously. It will feel silly at first; however, the research that supports the great benefits of mirror work isn’t silly at all.
That’s it! Oh, and if you rely on an alarm clock to wake you, just set it 5-7 minutes earlier than you typically need to get up then follow the steps above. You’ll be glad you did. You see, in a world made up of energy, momentum is everything. These tips can help to get your momentum going in a positive direction for your day. And, if you stay with this as a daily practice to the best of your ability, I think you’ll find you can go further and further into each day before anything or anyone drags you down from your “happy place “. I’ve been enjoying this daily practice for a few of years now. I’m not perfect at it by any stretch of the imagination; but, I do try to make it a true daily priority because I’ve gained such an appreciation for the mindset it puts me in and how it makes me feel.
