Your Vibe Attracts Your Tribe

Remember the lunch room in high school? Remember those kids in baggy clothes and messy hair sitting together? Or the pretty girls and the athletic boys at the “cool ” table? This happens in our neighborhoods to, we separate ourselves by socio-economic status and often race. The Ego is a powerful energy. As we identify with tiles such as “mother, student, rich person, surfer, Mexican-American ” we tend to surround ourselves with other who wear the same title. Bill Gates said, “You are the sum of the five people you spend the most time with. ” These titles help us relate to one another. The titles are really just a way to communicate a vibrational frequency that we have become more in tune with. Like a radio set to receive a signal, we’ve tuned into a particular vibe.

At our deepest physical level we are made of cells, which are made of atoms, which are made of subatomic particles. Science now understands that these particles are not solid particles at all but rather vibrating waves of energy. At the core of our physical make up is a pattern of vibrational energy. Our bodies, words, and actions act as antennas, tuning in the vibe we resonate with most. At the same time, the way we compose ourselves is not only a receptor of other people’s energy, it is a beacon of energy beaming out signals to the world.

Energy waves are either synergistic, meaning when a peak in the wave meets another peak in a wave the two double up causing a spike in energy, or they are antagonistic, when a peak meets a valley the two can cancel each other out. Your skin is only an illusionary boundary between what is you and what is not you. At the quantum level there is no separation. Like radio signals floating through the air, you are tuned to certain frequencies, but there are others that you miss. Have you ever been having a lovely morning until a grumpy co-worker entered the office? Have you ever noticed that elderly couples who have been together for a long time start to look like each other? Your waves affect mine. Sometimes drawing, sometimes pushing but always interacting.

San Diego Yoga Festival has a vision for raising the vibe of the entire universe starting first in the little beach town of Ocean Beach. Know to locals as “OB “, Ocean Beach,  is a place of powerful energy. It is home to artists, musicians, surfers, free thinkers, vegans, gardeners, hippies, and of course yogi’s looking to make the world a better place by starting in their own backyard. OB is one of the last beach towns in the country where you can live at the beach without the need to be wealthy. It is a place where uniqueness and freedom of expression are valued above profit and regulation. The locals show up with pitchforks each time a chain store tries to enter the neighborhood and people work odd jobs at odd hours to escape the corporate rat race. With over 80 classes and 50 teachers over the course 4 days the San Diego Yoga Festival will join the current of positive energy to double up the peaks of positive waves and cancel out the valleys.

As we know, you cannot change one thing without the butterfly effect having a massive impact on all things. By coming together to celebrate the healing medicine that is all things yoga we will have a profound effect on Ocean Beach, the entire city of San Diego, the nation, and the world.
