Thrive means to prosper or flourish. It seems that many people everywhere are on the path or mission to improve, grow, stand out and be the best! There is nothing wrong with this. In fact, this is a phenomenal trend that can really help society. With so much information out there, so many opportunities so how do we make a difference, stand out in the crowd and have success in our personal, professional and social lives? Whether you coach a little league team and want to win the regional championship, improve your relationship with your spouse, significant other, any family member or friend, or land the V.P. title at your company here are some simple practices that can make your dreams a reality.
The gift of time is immeasurable. “It takes time to succeed because success is merely the natural reward for taking time to do anything well. ” ~ Joseph Ross. We’ve all heard the saying ‘the more you put into it, the more you get out of it.’ This has been proven with child rearing and goes for all relationships and really any goal setting. After World War II, orphans living in a clean, safe and basically attentive facility did not thrive. Almost half of them died, despite having their basic needs like food, water and shelter met. What the infants needed was a meaningful relationship with a caring, and involved adult in order to survive, grow and thrive. If you want a good relationship you have to put the time in. Remember quality over quantity. You have to make whatever it is you want a priority in your life because there are way too many excuses and obligations that can present themselves as urgent in our modern day and age. Basically, everyone operates like an executive at this point. We all have cell phones and email attached to us at any given moment. Take a break and put some energy into to the things you want to see flourish. Think of it as a plant. It needs light and water on regular basis or it will simply disappear. Give what’s important your complete, focused, and uninterrupted time consistently and watch it grow!
The most successful people in the world did not arrive on top without the encouragement, inspiration and support of someone or some idea they they look up to. It is so important to praise and appreciate the world around you. Show genuine and enthusiastic gratitude to the people in your life. If you are a leader, let your people know how valuable they are, remember small details about their lives. Tell the significant people in your life how much they mean to you and look them in the eye when you do! Express gratitude to yourself. This is very important. Think about it, if you are always wearing yourself and others around you down, which direction will things be most likely to head? Lift everyone up around you! See your competition as your greatest teacher! Make gratitude a daily practice regardless of your spiritual beliefs. Celebrate small victories. Gratitude can be one of strongest emotions of humanity. If you’ve ever been down and out, or even completely helpless and had to rely on someone you know this to be true. Elizabeth Gilbert says in Eat, Pray Love: ‘In the end, though, maybe we must all give up trying to pay back the people in this world who sustain our lives. In the end, maybe it’s wiser to surrender before the miraculous scope of human generosity and to just keep saying thank you, forever and sincerely, for as long as we have voices. ” Say thank you! It also shows off your impeccable manners!
If you don’t believe in yourself than why should anyone else. This is the highest trait any great person must have! Imagine the quarterback heading to the huddle in the final play of a tied game and saying ‘I don’t think we have a chance here, but let’s do this anyway.’ When you truly believe in your cause, your relationship, your goal or desire you create a huge amount of positive energy that people will be unable to resist. Think of a person who inspires you. Do they walk around with their head hanging low, always seem to be having a bad day? Doubtful. Chances are the people that inspire you have a BIG dream, a belief in a cause that is great, a belief in you and they were their belief loudly and proudly. Believe. Believe that you deserve to be happy. Believe that you deserve that promotion. Believe that you deserve a great relationship, balance in your life and peace!
