5 Easy Daily Detox Habits

Our bodies have their own detoxifying system in which it flushes out unwanted toxins and chemicals – to a certain degree.   The mainstream will tell you it does not need any further help, but this is simply not true. In today’s polluted climate and tainted food supply, our bodies are bombarded with chemicals and toxins at a rate it detox on its own.   Unless you are eating a clean, organic raw food diet that detoxes your body naturally, your body needs extra detoxifying boosts to get rid of the toxins.

Here are 5 easy habits for daily detox:

1) Juice Every Morning
Juicing on an empty stomach allows all the nutrients and live enzymes to be completely absorbed by the body.   Choose organic produce when possible.   View our article on for great morning recipes for detoxing the body.

2) Drink Water with Lemon
Fresh squeezed lemon serves as the perfect ‘good morning drink’, as it aids the digestive system and makes the process of eliminating the contaminates from the body easier. It also helps with detoxing your bowels, assuring smooth bowel functions.   Drink preferably with Alkaline Water.   See #4 for more.

3) Sweat it out
Sweating has been shown to cleanse your body and detox toxins while increasing heart rate and blood flow along the way.   Hot yoga is a great way to sweat and also focus on pranayama breathing (big slow deep breaths) as 70% of the toxins in your body come from your lungs.

4) Drink Alkaline Water
Tap water that comes from the city has a very low pH level and contains chemicals such as flouride, that have been shown to work against your body.   This is also the case with the most popular bottled water brands as most are just purified city water.   The solution?   Buy an alkaline water filter or bottled alkaline water with a pH of 7.5 or higher from a BPA-Free bottle.

5) Consume Organic Apple Cider Vinegar
This not so pleasant liquid is a powerful detoxifier.   Taking 2 tablespoons a day helps get rid of mucus in the body and break down harmful toxins. It also encourages good gut bacteria, which is important when it comes to getting rid of toxins.   I mix mine with a tablespoon of ground turmeric and ground ginger for an horrid nighttime concoction but I wake up feeling extremely refreshed.
